Canada encourages the admission of business
people whose business skills and capital will contribute to the
nation’s economy and create job opportunities to Canadians. There are
three Business Classes: Investors, Entrepreneur and Self-employed.
Investors
In order to qualify as an investor, you must first meet the regulatory
definition for aninvestorand then obtain a
minimum of 35 points in a selection grid designed to determine
whether you will be able to become economically established in Canada.

You and your immediate family members may
obtain Permanent Resident Status in Canada if you:
- Invest $ 400,000 (Canadian) before
receiving a visa with the guaranteed to be reimbursed the full amount
(without interest) after five years.
- Have a legally obtained net worth of at
least $ 800,000 (Canadian)
- Have a business experience as defined
in the Canadian Immigration Regulations
Entrepreneurs
The applicant must obtain a minimum of
35 points in a selection
grid designed to determine whether you will be able to become
economically established in Canada. These selection criteria are as

You and your immediate family members may
obtain Permanent Resident Status in Canada if you:
- Have a legally obtained net worth of at
least $ 300,000 (Canadian).
- Have qualifying business experience as
defined in the Canadian Immigration law
- Will establish qualifying Canadian
business upon arrival.
- Provide a written statement to an
officer that you intend and will be able to meet the
conditions referred to in the Regulations.
The $300,000 net worth may be obtained by
the assets of both the principle applicant and the entrepreneur’s
spouse/common-law partner/same-sex partner.
Entrepreneurs and their family members will be granted permanent
residence under conditions that Citizen and Immigration Canada monitor.
Self-employed
This category is available only to
individuals which have self-employed
experience in fields such as farmers, athletes (at an international
level), or artisans.
Applicants must demonstrate that the
proposed business will generate sufficient revenues to support the
applicant and his or her dependents. Farmers, artisans, sports
personalities, actors, consultants, and operators of small business
outlets that may be in demand are examples of applicants who may
qualify.
In order to be approved as a Self-Employed
Immigrant, the applicant must first meet the regulatory definition, and
then comply with the selection criteria for that category of the
immigrant.
The applicant must obtain a minimum of
35 points in a selection grid designed to determine whether you
will be able to become economically established in Canada. These

- Have relevant experience in the
management of a farm or in cultural or athletic activities as described
in the Canadian Immigration Regulations.
- Show that they can and intend to create
their own employment in Canada; and
- Contribute significantly either to the
Canadian economy as farmers or to the cultural or athletic life of
Canada.
There is no minimum investment level for a
self-employed person. The applicant must have a sufficient amount to
create an employment for himself and support his/her family. The
applicant must show that he/she has been able to support himself and
family through his talents and would be likely to continue to do so in
Canada.
